Mother Nature

January 27th, 2007 (02:36 pm)

Mother Nature has not been so gentle with us, and we are still wondering when Abbey will come to season.

After speaking with our reproductive specialist a few clues are tending to show that we may have missed a "silent cycle" back in mid November.

Because Abbey has a lot of Poodle in her, it could be an ongoing and normal way for her to have her cycle (practically no signs) which will make our breeding program for now a bit more challenging for us.

We have been and will continue to be watchfull. When a litter finally comes it will have been certainly long expected!

Book review

January 20th, 2007 (02:31 pm)

We've just finished another book that we highly recommend reading before puppies are underway!
A really easy read that will give everyone a lot of information:
"If your dog could talk..." by Dr. Bruce Fogle

Dr Fogle has published many other books that we intend on reading!
more to come.

Happy new Year!

January 4th, 2007 (11:34 am)

What a busy time of year this was.

Abbey got to meet new people and family visiting from France.

Eat goose neck for Christmas eve dinner.

Chase ducks and squirrels.

See beautiful Christmas light at the Bellevue Botanical Garden (where she got as much attention from the crowd as the lights did!).

Get a new haircut, yes, forseeing that breeding time and whelping will be happening soon we decided to go with ease of care for now.
She looks like a different dog and I think it translates in her being more active (it must be about not having so much hair getting in her way) and me having less of a mess to clean up when we get back from our run on the muddy trails (less dirt, twigs, leaves and random bugs caught in her coat!).

more snow!

November 26th, 2006 (02:05 pm)

We have realized how much Abbey loves the snow, must be all that thick fur of hers!
In any case she just always has a blast romping around in the white cold stuff. The last few days it's been snowing quite a lot up in the mountains near us, so we decided to take her on a fun outing.
Here are a few photos and a video.

Abbey in Whistler

November 15th, 2006 (12:03 am)

Last weekend Abbey enjoyed the wonders of snow.
She was so exited to play and run around in the white cold flakes.
Here is a short clip. Enjoy!

coming into season

September 23rd, 2006 (10:16 am)

Well we are still waiting on our beautifull Abbey to come into season.
When she left Australia, back in July, her fertility cycle was expected at any time. The long trip from Rutland manor to Kadli Cottage may have either set her cycle back a couple of months or so (we hope!) or entirely reset it (which means 6 months from July). We are hopeful and seeing that Abbey as quickly acclimated to life here which is a really good sign, will help bring on her cycle...

September 2nd, 2006 (08:18 pm)

Today Abbey met Titan for the very first time. I was great to meet Titan and Jackie at Washington Labradoodle. We were sad to have to leave sooner than we had anticipated due to a freak accident. We wish Jackie's husband the best and hope that it was less than a broken leg in the end.

More to come on the Abbey/Titan litter. We are now waiting for Abbey to come to season (within the next few weeks) and send her off on her honeymoon with Titan!

Now it is all left to waiting and being patient!

honeymooning?!

August 25th, 2006 (09:46 pm)

Abbey and Titan of Washington Labradoodles will be meeting and playing for the first time next weekend (saturday september 2nd). We are very exited about this visit!
Titan will be Abbey's potential mate (details still to be worked out) for her next litter, which could be due anytime between the end of october and mid-november 2006 as Abbey will be in season anyday now.

More to come!
